​Goal/Objectives:

• Apply principles of neuroscience to an understanding of trauma impact and treatment
• Understand how trauma events impact personal and social development throughout the life span and generate secondary issues, life changes, and distressing reminders in children’s and adolescent’s lives
• Describe how trauma occurs within a broad context that includes children and adolescent’s social environment, systems of care, personal characteristics, life experiences, and current living circumstances
• Apply integrated techniques utilizing etiology, assessment, and treatment of traumatic stress that addresses the functioning of the identified individual as well as the primary care-giving environment
• Develop specific skills for working with children and adolescents including specific interview and expressive techniques
