As individuals within the helping profession, we are at-risk for experiencing vicarious trauma and compassion fatigue. These issues can compromise the work we do as counselors, social workers, and community-support providers. In order to be effective in our profession and experience a healthy quality of life, we need to recognize the importance of self-care. Planning and implementing healthy self-care practices is crucial to our overall well-being and success in our career.
